APRIL 2023 COVER FEATURE: This pair of Peterbilt 389s belong to Bruce and Kellie Cone of Cone Trucking out of Redding, CA. Bruce is a 3rd generation trucker, but his wife Kellie just got her CDL in 2019 and started trucking. Bruce’s truck, painted legendary grey with viper red stripes, is a 2020 model powered by a turned-up X15 hooked to an 18-speed, and has a 295” wheelbase. Kellie’s truck, painted viper red with brushed black stripes, is a 2022 model powered by a high-torque X15 hooked to an 18-speed, and has a 280” wheelbase. This dynamic duo pulls flatbed trailers and hauls lumber and other building supplies in Oregon and California. Their sharp trucks can be seen here in a turnout overlooking Lake Shasta and a snow-covered Mount Shasta, which is just a short drive north from where they live.
