26 10-4 Magazine / August 2026 Terry’s favorite truck at the show was tucked away inside one of the buildings – a perfectly restored carnival truck covered in intricate carvings and hand-painted artwork. It resonated with him because of our own family’s history of owning a steam swing carousel from that same era. Many people had never seen a carnival transport truck before, let alone one filled with beautifully carved carousel animals. Since I only spent one full day at the show, I left wishing I’d had more time. I could have spent an entire week listening to the stories behind these trucks. That’s what I took away from ATHS – it’s not about what you own, it’s about how you found it, the people you met along the way, and the memories you made getting there. If you’ve never attended the ATHS National Convention, put it on your calendar, because it’s like rolling through history – literally.
