Troy’s Treasures: By Troy Miller It is plainly apparent, on this 250th birthday of the United States of America, the continuation of the grand experiment, no matter how successful or complex that experiment has been, that we as a nation are a tapestry, a “melting pot” as the old platitude goes, composed of the disparate, the different, and the myriad of various populaces that make up the world around us. We are not a nation of me, I, or them, but a nation of we and us. Look around and see the diverse voices of the people that collectively make these United States what they are. What could be more representative of those differences that come together in the United States than a towing fleet composed of equally colorful but wildly varying units. Blue Diamond Towing of Denver, Colorado has a fleet of multiple types and styles of wreckers and towing units, all with the central theme of our nation’s colors. In this special feature here, we will highlight two of those units, which are both good examples of owner Hani Alkayali’s operation. Starting in 2012, Hani and his company, Blue Diamond Towing, has grown into a premier fleet of towing and recovery equipment. Understanding that growth comes both big and small, Blue Diamond’s equipment ranges from light-duty, with the finesse for exotic car transport and motorcycle tows, to heavy wreckers and rotators, capable of the largest recovery jobs. Like Ellis Island for our forebearers, at Blue Diamond, all types of tows are welcome. When it’s time for the big jobs, the 2024 Kenworth T880 rotator seen on these pages, recently flying a 50-foot flag at their June 18th car show, is often called in. Outfitted with a big 50/60-ton Jerr-Dan rotator body, the T880 features a 605-Cummins backed by an 18-speed Eaton over 44,000-lb. differentials and dual lift axles to support the heaviest jobs. With four massive outriggers, the Jerr-Dan body (which is wrapped in a patriotic color scheme that also displays elements from the “Terminator” movie franchise) features chrome accents and 58 10-4 Magazine / July 2026 RED, WHITE & BLUE DIAMOND roll-up door access to the large storage spaces filled with all the snatch-blocks, spreader bars, chains, slings and other necessary gear for heavy recovery. And with dual lines on the rotator mainframe, this truck has the reach and the lines for the most advanced recoveries, too.
