Itwasalearningexperienceinmore ways than one, and he’s truly grateful for the ideas that his parents, friends, and all those who assisted in the build gave himalongtheway. Asanodtohisdad, Ashton had Horst put “Kaley” on the door, since every truck his dad drove backintheday,hadthatonit. Ashtonis very thankful for Lewis Weaver and his guys at LK Kustomz, 717 Fab Shop, 717 Shine Shop, Spare Time Fab, Gordon’s Painting & Detailing, Horst Graphics, and everyone else that had a hand in it or suggested ideas to take it to the next level. Whilethesepeoplealldidtheir work and did it well, Ashton says none of it would be possible without the support andblessingfromhisparents. Asheput it, “I’m just grateful to drive it.” I had been following the build for quite some time and then reached out to Lewis and said, “Let me know when it is 100% done because I want to be the firstonetoshootit.” Wemadeithappen on the Thursday of the week before MATS. Intwoprevious10-4features, I used my friend Matt’s private rail yard The intent of this build was never to win awards or trophies – Ashton and his parents just wanted to show the truck off. ComeSaturdaymorning,atthe award ceremony, Ashton took home 3rd place in the Working Truck Bobtail class, 3rd place in the Working Truck Interior Cab Only class, and 2nd place in the Working Truck Bobtail Paint & Graphics class. Whiletheawardsarecooland he and his family are thankful, he’s just happy that the hard work that everyone putinwasrecognized. Ashtonenjoyed meeting a bunch of great people, which is what it’s all about, to him.
