10-4 Magazine - October 2026

54 10-4 Magazine / October 2026 McAllister brought a 1985 Peterbilt 359 with a particularly personal history. It was the truck his father used to teach him how to drive. After returning home from his mission, McAllister discovered his parents had transformed the truck. What he thought would be a simple repair to the sleeper turned into a full repaint, engine swap and new interior. Today, he drives the truck while hauling heavy equipment and pipe. “I really feel blessed to be able to drive that truck every day,” McAllister said. His memories of the Great Salt Lake Truck Show stretch back to his teenage years, including competing in the Human Truck Pull at age 17. Now, seven years later, he appreciates something else about the show. “Honestly, just the culture here,” he said. “A lot of good, friendly people, and getting to meet new people, too. Lots of really nice trucks, as well.” The weekend concluded Saturday afternoon with the awards ceremony. Rather than relying on traditional judging of classes, many of the show’s sponsors were given the opportunity to walk the grounds and select the truck that stood out most to them. For decades, the Great Salt Lake Truck Show has been about much more than seeing who has the brightest chrome or the cleanest truck – it’s a reunion. It’s an opportunity for veteran drivers to catch up with old friends and for younger generations to discover the culture and traditions of trucking. It’s a chance for the public to get an up-close look at the machines and people that keep America moving. Most importantly, it’s an industry coming together to help families facing kidney disease. The rain may have washed away some polish on Friday afternoon, but it couldn’t wash away the pride these drivers have in their trucks, their profession, or the cause they came together to support. And after enjoying 100 trucks, two days of festivities and countless hours spent polishing chrome, the 2026 Great Salt Lake Truck Show once again showed what Utah’s trucking community does best: show up, shine bright and take care of its own. Simply put, shining for a cause! n 2026 SPONSOR SELECTIONS Premier Truck Group: Godfrey Trucking, Dell Adams. Bridgerland Technical College: Malmgren Trucking, Wyatt Malmgren.
