28 | FALL 2024 Enrichment HOW TO GROW A WINTER VEGETABLE GARDEN With the right knowledge and preparation, you can enjoy a bountiful winter harvest of nutritious vegetables straight from your own backyard garden. Extend your growing season year round with the intent of harvesting something every day. Class includes winter seedlings to take home. HOW TO GROW AN HERB, SPICE, TEA GARDEN Spruce up your meals with home grown herbs and spices. Then add a cup of your own tea blend to top it off. Class will include plant selection, maintenance, and care. GARDENING [18+ yrs] INDOOR GARDENING - HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HOUSEPLANTS Whether ornamental or edible, knowing how to properly care for your indoor garden can easily turn a home into a sanctuary. Class will cover plant selection, containers, soil, lights, fertilization, and pest control. THE BIRDS OF GREYSTONE Enjoy a morning hike around the Greystone property as we identify the local birds who call Greystone home. We’ll also cover how to identify and attract birds to your garden, what kind of bird feeder to use, as well as proper care and maintenance. Bring your own binoculars if you have them. Note - this class starts at 9am. Sign up for all four classes and get one FREE! SATURDAY MORNING GARDEN CLUB Help maintain the Greystone Demonstration Garden and the grounds around it including Pollinator Hill. You may put on your garden gloves to join in or simply sit and watch the birds and enjoy the camaraderie of other garden lovers. You must arrive between 8:30am - 9:00am. The cost is free however pre-registration is required. Adults CERAMICS - OPEN STUDIO TIME [18+ yrs] This is a non-instructional time for potters to practice independently and develop their projects while connecting with others in a relaxed, communal setting. Participants must have previous experience with wheel throwing and/ or hand building and feel comfortable working in the studio on their own. Staff will be around to ask questions but will not offer lessons. Fee includes a designated shelf, studio glazes, and firing. Clay must be purchased separately. Instructor: Jacqi Lee. BRIDGE FOR LIFE [18+ yrs] Explore the strategic world of Bridge in our new class designed to sharpern your mind, socialize, and master this classic card game with fellow enthusiasts. Instructor: Susan Somogy. CERAMICS - INTRO TO HAND-BUILDING [18+ yrs] Learn the basics of working with clay while creating fun projects in this structured, beginner-friendly class. Hand building is a relaxing, forgiving way to explore pottery without the wheel and express yourself creatively. Students will learn the fundamentals of pinching, coiling, slab construction, and glazing. Fee includes all class materials and firing. Instructor: Jacqi Lee.
