A NOTE FROM OUR COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR Dear Beverly Hills Community, Despite all the challenges that faced us over this last year, we are finally emerging from the chrysalis of our quarantine selves and into the butterflies we will become in this post-COVID era in 2022! And as we celebrate coming back together again - get ready for the Roaring 20’s of community programs, events, services and innovative new offerings! Here are some highlights of the exciting programs & services coming your way in Summer 2022: • Beverly Hills Spring Art Show: Join us Sat. & Sun., May 21-22, 10am-5pm at Beverly Gardens Park for an array of unique artworks from 151 artists from Southern California and points beyond. • Summer Reading Club begins May 23, 2022. This year’s theme is Read Beyond the Beaten Path. More info available at www.bhpl.org. Join us for the summer reading club fun! • Welcome the return of Music in the Mansion on Sun, May 15, 2-5pm. Co-presented by Artistic Director Laura Schmeider of IPalpiti Artists, this special edition of the event will feature 10 award-winning artists performing in locations throughout Greystone including its newly restored theatre! • We’ve got camps - AK Soccer, Bevwood Basketball, Brit West, Bizzy Girls, Catskills West, Got Game Sports, Teen Summer Camp and Yoga Retreat – and arts & culture offerings including CAMP CREATE Workshops - explore the arts & nature in these a la carte offerings! • Enjoy our Concerts on Canon series with performances every Thursday in Beverly Canons Park, starting June 9 - August 25, join us for a jammin’ summer of music, dance & social gatherings! • Pie Bake a’ la Beverly Hills & Piesta, the best pie-loving, pie-baking event of the season, returns to the Beverly Hills Farmers Market on Sun., June 12, 9am - 1 pm! For more information on how to join the Home-Baked Pie contest fun, please visit www.beverlyhills.org/FarmersMarket • Speaking of music, celebrate Make Music Day Beverly Hills 2022 on Tuesday, June 21, 10am – 10pm. Enjoy the City’s inaugural Make Music Day Concert in Beverly Canons Park and some of the best local dance & music from diverse cultures that make up this amazing community as part of the one-day worldwide celebration of music and music making! • Celebrate National Park & Recreation Month in July with our summer recreation programs, special events and fun new community challenges for all ages & the entire community. This summer, we invite you to get out in nature as part of Parks Rx, a program of the worldwide campaign Health Parks, Healthy People. Beverly Hills Parks Rx is your parks prescription to get out & enjoy nature as preventative medicine and for its life affirming benefits to our mental health. • Speaking of social gatherings, join us for the Art of Summer, a summertime showcase of arts & culture in Beverly Hills! We’ve got a whole bunch of upcoming site-specific activities showcasing live performances by some of our most talented local musicians & entertainers! • And speaking of public art, experience our new ArtWalks, guided docent tours of the City’s art, ecology and history while walking in our world class Fine Art Collection! This six-month pilot program (May 1, June 5, July 10, Aug 7 and Sept 11) features specialty tours held once a month showcasing the City’s sculptures, historic trees and history of Beverly Gardens Park.
