MENIFEE MATTERS 17 Menifee’s public safety e orts are further bolstered by the Quality of Life Measure. Passed by Menifee voters in November 2016, the Quality of Life Measure (also known as Measure DD) approved a one-cent sales tax to provide local funding that cannot be taken by the State. The funding provided by the Measure has allowed the City to maintain and enhance numerous City services including emergency preparedness, police and fire services, and road safety and tra‡c mitigation. The Menifee City Council has purposefully allocated significant resources to both the Menifee Police Department (PD) and the fire services provided by CALFIRE/Riverside County Fire Department to ensure that people can feel safe and secure in their homes and businesses. Recently, the City of Menifee was named as one of the “Top 20 Safest Cities” according to Safewise.com. The City has maintained a strong commitment to public safety thanks to the establishment of the City's police department. Menifee PD launched in July 2020 with just over 60 o‡cers and 17 professional sta . Today, the department has grown to nearly 125 o‡cers and support sta . The City has made a concerted e ort to strengthen fire and emergency services throughout the community. The City of Menifee added a new Medic Squad at Sun City Fire Station #7 in September 2022. This vital resource has helped to support one of the busiest fire stations in Riverside County, reducing emergency response times and ensuring better citywide coverage. The City is also in the process of building a new fire station in the Quail Valley community that will accommodate more fire personnel and larger fire fighting apparatus.
