16 WINTER 2024 The City of Menifee held its annual State of the City address at the HCN Bank Stadium at Mt. San Jacinto College on Thursday, October 24. The theme for this year’s event was “Hometown of Heroes,” and provided an opportunity to celebrate just some of the groups and individuals who make our city great. Whether it’s protecting our community, helping to support our local youth, or those in need, Menifee’s dedicated and compassionate hometown heroes continue to make Menifee a safe, thriving, and premier place to be. The State of the City presentation also shared key updates regarding the City’s operations over the last year on important topics including infrastructure, public safety, new development, and community amenities. INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS A major priority for Menifee continues to be a strong investment in our local infrastructure. The Menifee City Council has adopted a very aggressive, 5-Year, over $700 million Capital Improvement Plan aimed at adding new roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure to our community. This year, special attention was also focused on our local schools. Several projects were completed to enhance school routes and improve trac safety. These include the widening of Garbani Road to create a multi-use path leading to Menifee Valley Middle School, as well as improvements at Boulder Ridge Elementary, Taawila Elementary School, Kathryn Newport Middle School, Bell Mountain Middle School, and Paloma Valley High School. PUBLIC SAFETY Since its incorporation in 2020, the Menifee Police Department has attracted top-quality talent from across California and the nation. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, Menifee was recently recognized as one of the Top 20 Safest Cities in California. With over 120 ocers and police personnel, the department not only works to keep our city safe but also commits to collaborating with the community to identify challenges and develop eective solutions.
