This fun all day event benefits Desert residents living with Multiple Sclerosis. The day’s events include Shotgun Scramble, Continental Breakfast, Social Hour, Buffet Dinner, Silent Auction & Awards. Limited to 144 players, registration is $250 per person; or $900 for a Foursome. Dinner option for those “non-golfers” is $100. Sponsorships available. ACT for MS is a local nonprofit organization that helps enhance the quality of life for people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis living in the Coachella Valley. We provide ongoing support, direct programs and financial help to these individuals and their families, at no charge. Our approach is to provide life-changing, hands-on programs that will support and help enable them to deal with difficult everyday life issues and have a better quality of life. The proclamation recognizes the important mission of the Foundation and the many accomplishments of Dr. Carreon to our local community. In addition to establishing the Dr. Carreon Foundation, another major local accomplishment of Dr. Carreon was his donation of land which was developed to become Indio Community Hospital, now JFK Memorial Hospital. In addition to this proclamation, the City of Indio has recognized his deep- rooted commitment to the community with the naming of Dr. Carreon Park, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, and Dr. Reynaldo J. Carreon Jr. Academy. Being a strong advocate of education and higher education for minority Hispanic American students, the Foundation carries his legacy forward. For over 30 years now, scholarships have been annually awarded to minority ethnicities who need assistance to pursue an education after high school. Beginning in 2023, the Foundation expanded its reach to also include African, Asian, and Native American students. To date, more than $2 million in scholarships to more than 900 students have been awarded. Recipients have attended schools locally and across the country including College of the Desert, CSUSB Palm Desert, University of Southern California, UCLA, MIT, and Harvard University, to name a few. Foundation prior to his death in 1991, to enable Americans of Mexican ancestry to become the best they can through education.
