COD Foundation’s most important fundraiser of the year, Stepping Out for COD 2024, proudly presents International multi-platinum selling acclaimed singer and ASCAP award-winning songwriter, LEANN RIMES. LeAnn has sold more than 48 million units globally, won 2 Grammy Awards; 12 Billboard Music Awards; 2World Music Awards; 3 Academy of Country Music Awards; 2 Country Music Association Awards, and one Dove Award. At 14, Rimes won “Best New Artist,”making her the youngest solo artist to take home a Grammy Award, and at 15, she became the first country artist to win “Artist of the Year” at the Billboard Music Awards. Out of the 63 singles LeAnn has released throughout her expansive career, Rimes’ balla “How Do I Live” holds the record as Billboard’s Hot 100 all-time #1 hit by a female artist and currently ranks #6 on Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time: Hot 100 Songs” list. 15 of her multi-genre singles are top-10 hits, including “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,”which went #1 in 11 countries. Stepping Out for COD will be held on April 4th, 2024, at 8:00pm at The Show at Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage. Proceeds will benefit the COD Foundation’s Fund for Student Success. Presented by Alan and Helen Greene & James and Jessica Greene, Stepping Out will also celebrate COD Foundation’s 40th Anniversary, and their raising over $113 million in the past four decades to support student enrichment programs and services. “COD is a treasured asset to our Valley,” say Stepping Out Co-chairs Norma Castaneda and Jenell VanDenBos. “Your support initiates a profound ripple effect, empowering students who are struggling with paying tuition and childcare, while managing housing and food insecurity to triumph in their pursuit of their educational goals. Your generous gift makes a resounding impact, strengthening the infrastructure of our local economy and making a significant difference between a student dropping out or receiving a diploma.” Nearly two-thirds of COD students qualify for some form of financial assistance, but traditional scholarship support rarely extends to cover all core essentials students need to succeed. The cost of books and class- related supplies alone can add up to several thousands of dollars, leaving many students with limited options to pay for program fees and supplies, affordable childcare, technology and equipment. COD Foundation Board Chair Diane Rubin explains, “When we provide comprehensive access to education and remove financial barriers to learning, we are not only transforming individual lives but producing a professional workforce to strengthen our Valley’s social and economic infrastructure. We believe that no student should miss out on a class or find they are unable to complete an assignment due to a lack of supplies, books, or technology.” For more than 60 years, COD has made it possible for local students to pursue their academic dreams. In turn, these students become skilled nurses, firefighters, EMTs, chefs, hoteliers, architects, entrepreneurs, and business leaders of 125,000 alumni strong, who give back to our community, as well as generating over $300 million annually to our local economy.
