Since May 2015, two months after their 19-year- old son Shaun Jr. lost his life in a skateboarding accident – he was not wearing a helmet – Shaun and Ginger Clark have spoken at dozens of local elementary, middle and senior high schools to 500,000 students, and distributed 30,000 helmets. Shaun Jr. remains in the hearts of his loving parents and three siblings as a promising young man who was a devout Christian, possessed a gift for music, who easily mastered math and science concepts, and had an unflinching determination that once he began a task, he kept at it until complete. Today, in his memory, presentations on helmet safety are made by Shaun Sr. with Ginger closely observing the effectiveness of the message and passing out brief follow-up surveys. The couple has refined their appearances to correlate with each grade level addressed.
