CARREÓN FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2026 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN The Dr. Carreón Foundation is excited to invite high school seniors, college students, and transfer students to apply for a 2026 scholarship. Submissions will be accepted through mid-March 2026. Students are encouraged to complete their application sooner rather than later. Scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants of minority ethnicities throughout the Coachella Valley and Blythe. The money awarded can be used toward tuition, school supplies, and living expenses. Visit the Foundation’s website at www.carreonfoundation. org to learn more and to begin your application if you qualify. Recipients have attended schools locally and across the country including College of the Desert, CSUSB Palm Desert, University of Southern California, UCLA, MIT, and Harvard University, to name a few. Since its founding in 1991, the Foundation has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to over 2,000 students. The 2025 scholarship awards totaled $292,000 to 92 recipients, one of the most ever. This outlay was made possible due in part to sponsorships, grants, and donations from local organizations and individuals, such as OneFuture CV, Desert Care Network, Desert Healthcare Foundation, six area Rotary Clubs, and many other generous partners and individuals. A Desert Journey That Transforms Lives TRAILBLAZE CHALLENGE Set against the powerful beauty of the desert, the Trailblaze Challenge is more than a hike—it’s a life-changing experience that helps grant wishes for children with critical illnesses right here in Coachella Valley. As a participant, you’ll train and fundraise to complete an 18-mile guided hike through Joshua Tree National Park, joining a community of changemakers bringing hope, strength, and joy to wish kids and families across the Coachella Valley. The experience includes elevated cuisine by F-10, s’mores, stargazing and a luxurious two-night stay at AutoCamp Joshua Tree, culminating in a Trail 2 Table celebration brunch—proving it’s about more than the miles walked.
