Jeffrey Schlund The Betty Ford Center Senior Outreach Manager Making A Difference As a Senior Outreach Manger, I get the oppor- tunity to work with dedicated professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists every day. It has been said, pick a job you love, and you never work a day in your life. That is true when I began my career working at the Betty Ford Center, the premier non-profit drug and alcohol treatment center in the world, located in Rancho Mirage. I am beyond blessed to be working for an organization whose mission is to bring recovery to those suffering with the disease of addiction. It is a cause that is close to my heart. Mark Scheibach Desert Cancer Foundation Executive Director Making A Difference I am honored and inspired to take the lead of this incredible Foundation and feel we are poised to expand the vision and build on its reputation as we enter our 30th Anniversary in 2024. Being a member of the Board of Directors for 9 years beforehand gives me a head-start as we look for strategic growth in development, programming, and outreach. I look forward to working with our community partners in making a positive difference for individuals who have a cancer diagnosis and otherwise could not access or afford cancer treatment. M en in philanthropy - PAGE 8 DESERT CHARITIES NEWS SPOTLIGHT Barry Dayton President John F. Kennedy said, “A rising tide lifts all boats” in a speech about economic development. However, I like to think about his quote as “We may all travel through life separately, but each of us benefits from those who provide for the common good.” Whether their missions serve individuals, families, youth, seniors, animals, or those with specific health or social service needs, we collectively benefit from our local nonprofits who work for the common good. I believe that when for-profit and nonprofit are working in harmony, the resulting rising tide lifts us all. That’s why I’m proud to work for a company that knows many of us need a helping hand from time to time and gives so generously, year after year, to support the good of its members, employees, and the rest of the community in so many ways. Desert Oasis Healthcare appreciates the good work done by the many nonprofit organizations that serve the Coachella Valley and the surrounding high desert. We are proud to support local nonprofits that do so much good in our communities.
