Through housing assistance, job placement, education, and mentorship, we transform lives. Our unique programs, including teen mentorship, self-defense class- es, art sessions, and sewing classes, equip indi- viduals with essential skills for lasting success. By fostering resilience and community support, we break the cycle of homelessness, creating a stronger, more compassionate Coachella Valley. Join us in this transformative journey and be the change our community needs—together, we can make an extraordinary impact. HEIDI MALDOON Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert Executive 'irectRr Making A Di›erence Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert has an extraordinary team of dedicated board members, staŒ, and volunteers who come together to meet the unique needs of children and families across the Coachella Valley. I am honored to be part of Variety’s commitment to making a diŒerence within our community. Together, we have pivoted, expanded, partnered, and remained focused on impacting children through these critical times of need. As we navigate the variables each season brings, we are grateful to serve and make a positive impact in the lives of many Coachella Valley children and families. PAM WEEKLEY Imagining herself a mini-Dr. Doolittle and especially drawn toward ill or lonely animals, a young girl named Pam set foot on a trail to philanthropy. She just didn’t know it yet. Today, with 40-plus years’ experience in accounting, finance and taxation, Pam Weekley is licensed to practice by the lions, tigers and bears of the IRS. But at day’s end, she revels in being greeted by her two adopted Jack Russell mixes. After all, whatever frustrations a pressure-filled day of tabulating figures and reviewing regulations may have held, playing fetch (over and over and over again!) with her four- footed charges defines work-life balance. Coachella-based Loving All Animals is one of many nonprofits benefitting by Pam’s desire to make a di›erence. In fact, she “walked the talk” by adopting her canine companions from the organization. Moreover, she lends her financial expertise to Loving All Animals as its treasurer, consulting with fellow board members to ensure prudent planning and e›ective advocacy. She also supports Konnections Certifi- cation, which – in a text and Facetime world – enables young adults to obtain person-to-person networking skills. (Face to face! Eye contact!) Don’t worry, subjects are not thrown to the wolves; rather, are given business cards and critical talking points to engage those at networking events. Pam doesn’t provide her business cards to be distributed; rather, cards that represent Parkinson’s Resource Organization, Coachella Valley Horse Rescue, Loving All Animals, and Dezart Performs. As a tribute to her mother who passed this year, Pam also advocates for organizations seeking a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. Her philosophy? “The more you give, the more you get.” Pam Weekley Pam Weekley, MBA, EA Pam Weekley & Associates (760) 625-5549 pam.weekley@gmail.com Pwtaxandaccounting.com SPOTLIGHT KATHLEEN LUBANSKI Alzheimers Coachella Valley *eriatric 1urVe 3ractitiRner Making A Di›erence I am a retired geriatric nurse practitioner oŒering my skills at the Alzheimers Coachella Valley screening clinic 2-3 times a week. DEANN LUBELL DeAnn Lubell Marketing & Media Solutions OZner Making A Di›erence Serving the local nonprofit sector (such as Read With Me Volunteers and Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley) as a publicist and marketing specialist since 1991 has been very rewarding. What a joy to have represented well-respected organizations with inspiring missions to make life better for others in our desert communities. Now, I am making a diŒerence protecting and saving the lives of local pets with my own nonprofit called Amy’s Purpose. For more information go to www.amyspurpose.net. JAN LUPIA Mama’s House Ministries )RunGer Making A Di›erence Grateful is how I feel everyday as I begin work with the courageous mothers at Mama’s House. For the past decade, this ministry has provided a loving home, education, therapy and support for pregnant women. Without doubt, a diŒerence is being made in the lives of these women that not only impacts them, but their families and communities for generations. While being nurtured with us, they learn to cope with past hurts, raise a child, and run a functioning household. It is God ordained and priceless work that sees broken lives restored. EILEEN LYNCH Parkinson’s Resource Organization Executive 'irectRr Making A Di›erence Eileen Lynch is “working to ensure no one is isolated because of Parkinson’s” with the dedicated team at Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO). She strongly believes in connecting our community in service to better health outcomes and a better quality of life.
