Following a tradition that be- gan three years ago, the Villa Park Women's League sponsored the Community Holiday Forest out- side the City Hall. The uniquely decorated and lighted trees were created by VPWL activity groups – Stitch- ery, Couples Gourmet, Petal Pushers, Bunco, Pickleball and Newbies – as well as commu- nity organizations such as Rotary Club of Villa Park, Friends of the Villa Park Library, OC Sheriff, VP City and VP Community Ser- vices Foundation. Orange Elks excel at Christ- mas. Lodge 1475's Christmas Basket Program delivered 200 baskets to families with young children. Chair Colin Smith was assisted by Mike Cash, Adam Thomasson and Don Westerfield. Fourteen members assembled the boxes. Donations came from lodge members and many others: food from Grocery Outlet and Abound Food Care; pet food and treats from SpoofDawgs; toys from Orange Blossoms Auxiliary, Assistance League of Orange. Over 20 bikes, 25 scooters and coloring books and crayons, as well as Drug Awareness coloring books were also procured. The lodge prepared Italian din- ners for 80, and on a chilly Sat- urday morning, over 40 Elks (and friends) handed out the boxes and toys in a drive-through event at the Orange City Hall parking lot, thanks to the City of Orange and the Orange Police Department.
