Barbara Kirschner left us as she spent her life, fiercely loving and watching out for us, on October 29th 2023, at the age of 81. Her family will do their best to follow her example: loving deeply, find- ing beauty in the world, and let- ting people know the beauty she found in each of them. Barbara was born on May 26th, 1942 to Esther and Albert Molter in Long Beach, California, just six months after her mother and brother Richard were evacuated from their home on Ford Island, following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Barbara met her father Al eighteen months later, state- side. The family lived in Comp- ton, then again in Hawaii, and for most of her childhood, in Lake- wood, California. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1960, where life- long friendships were formed, especially with an impenetrable group referred to simply as “the girls” with whom she shared life’s adventures, marriages, chil- dren, heartaches, countless trips; a fiercely loyal sisterhood. Sweethearts since they were thirteen, she and Howard shared Lakewood High, even remain- ing active in the decades to come planning LHS reunions. Barb spent freshman year at UC Berkeley, before transferring to Cal State Long Beach to be near her love. They married on July 20th, 1963 and built a beautiful life together, making homes in Huntington Beach, Northridge, and finally settling in Villa Park. Villa Park residents for over 40 years, the Kirschners built great friendships which have been an anchor to them and brought their families, through the next two generations, great joy. The “Villa Park River Rats," as they came to call themselves, have loved and looked out for each other, their kids and grandkids, over meals and card games and sport- ing events at each other’s homes, and beyond, as they vacationed together regularly. Barbara made a warm and lov- ing home for her family. She was a passionate and skilled needle- pointer, cross-stitcher and knitter. She loved creating beautiful holi- day-themed crafts and decorating for every holiday, transforming their home into a magical gath- ering place. She was a skilled baker, known for her pies. She welcomed all with an open heart, a listening ear and a beautiful blooming yard to sit or play in. She was profoundly supportive and full of love for all our joyous occasions, never missing sending Hugh Neal Wells III was born on September 10, 1936, in Los Angeles to Florence and Neal Wells, Jr. Neal attended Pomona College for a year before transferring to Stanford, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Po- litical Science and continued to Stanford Law School, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Neal concentrated on the field of estates and trusts, where he was engaged in estate tax coun- seling, estates and trust adminis- tration, and litigation involving estates and related matters. He served as President of the Pro- bate section of the State Bar of California, was a consultant to “California Trust Administra- tion,” a compressive book about administration of trusts. He was a card in the mail for birthdays and anniversaries to a long list of friends and family. A fierce cancer warrior, Barba- ra fought and beat breast cancer twice. She was unfaltering in her focus and unwavering strength, and went on to support the cause and others facing any health bat- tle. Barbara will forever live in the hearts and memories of her chil- dren Stacey and Trevor, her chil- dren-in-law JJ and Dionne, and through her greatest loves of all, her grandchildren Olivia, Ryan, Jake and Jonah. She was full of love, and she got no greater joy from life than sharing that love with others. a member of the American Bar Association, Los Angeles Bar Association, California Bar As- sociation, and the Orange County Bar Association. Neal was a Captain of a State Bar team that assisted the California Law Revi- sion Commission in a complete revision of the California Probate Code. He was an active fellow of the prestigious American Col- lege of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He was one of the authors of the Estates and Trusts Specialty Exam for attorneys in the field. Neal was listed annual- ly in “Super Lawyers,” the “Best Lawyers of Orange County” and other publications. His clients ranged from corpo- rate CEOs to movie stars, many professional athletes, and just good people of all levels. He often represented members of families for several generations. He never minded spending hours mentoring younger attorneys. He really tried to convey ethics, hon- esty, and the helpful counseling of clients. In his private life, he was President of Young Republicans, at one time, a Board member of Dennis W. Kuli 1936 - 2023 Hugh Neal Wells III 1936 - 2023 Prior to his passing from pros- tate cancer, Dennis happily served local community organizations as a volunteer for almost 50 years. Participation in YMCA Indian Guides involved all three sons (Erik, Mark and Kirk) as did his coaching of soccer. If his boys were involved with other sports, he was always there to cheer them on. And, you can be sure that he was proudly there for activities involving his 8 grandkids (Jake, Zoe, Dean, Emma, Kate, John, Katherine and Charlotte), too. His technical aptitude skills ac- quired via undergrad and graduate degrees from prestigious CalTech ideally suited him well not only in his professional career as an Elec- trical Engineer, but to become the first President of the VP Cable TV Corporation. His sense of integ- rity and attention to detail made him the perfect Villa Park City Treasurer for 19 years. Yes, the old bearded guy truly looked for- ward to wearing a red suit for his journey through the City as Santa Claus atop a VP Fire Engine for 15 years. Via an AFS Exchange Student program, he and Jill, his wife for 60 years, enjoyed many adven- tures with daughters, Hetty (Hol- land), Steffi (Germany) and Beni (Italy). Together, the two of them delivered “Meals on Wheels” and provided food at Ronald McDon- ald House. VP Foundation events such as the summer picnics at Ir- vine Lake, Concerts in the (Villa) Park and HalloweenFest always had their fingerprints on them, too. Loving Husband, Model Fa- ther, Doting Grandfather, Villa Park River Rat, Hard Working Engineer, and Devoted Commu- nity Volunteer. Dennis was re- membered by family and friends in so many ways at a Celebration of Life Holiday Party in Decem- ber. Barbara Lee Kirschner 1942 - 2023 the United Way precursor, and a Board Member of Children’s Home Society. He loved fish- ing, particularly at Fallen Leaf Lake while staying at Stanford Camp or at Lake Mary or Convict Lake when staying in our condo in Mammoth. We spent many years as a family and made many friends at both places. His work in church was his pas- sion. He was often an elder and was President of the Board of Trustees at two churches. He was one of the instrumental people in the move of several Orange Coun- ty Presbyterian Churches to ECO from PCUSA. He felt strongly that God was leading him. Neal is survived by his wife of 64 years, Teddy, his children, Neal Wells IV (Angela), and Cyn- thia Johnson (Joe) and two grand- children, Andrew and Meghan Wells, and his sister, Mary Hyatt, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
