Foothills Sentry February 2020
Foothills Sentry February 2020 Page 21 The “kindness” movement is spreading, one rock at a time, thanks to Lisa De Vahl, shown here, manager of the Chapman/Tustin Starbucks. De Vahl took note of the colorful rock garden in Old Towne Orange (June 2019 Sentry), and began painting rocks for her Starbuck's landscaping. Patrons started asking for rocks, then dropping off their finished artwork, shown above, right. De Vahl hopes to spread a little joy, and see the site’s landscaping completely covered in colorful rocks. Business Briefs Rod’s Liquor , a landmark in Old Towne Orange, closed Janu- ary 31, after 71 years. Rod Fraser opened the business in 1949; it grew from one store to 23 loca- tions, including Rodrigo’s Mexi- can Grill restaurants. Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, known for its brunch menu, will take up resi- dence there. China Panda in the Villa Park Towne Center was shuttered, and quickly replaced by Yang Ming Garden. After 25 years, Yang Ming had closed its Tustin Street location in August, after a report- ed triple-rent increase. Stubrik’s Steakhouse & Bar will be expanding into Orange. The popular Fullerton eatery, known for its friendly atmosphere and aged beef, will be located at 123 N. Olive, the site of a former antique business. The Tustin School Manage- ment Association (TSMA) and PTA/PTO Coordinating Council are co-sponsoring the 45th an- nual “Friends of Tustin Schools” Community Recognition Dinner on Wed., March 11.
