Call Jasmine Wesley (714) 910-4631       jasmine@prestige-realtyca.com GOCAT signs Memorandum with Orange The Greater Orange Communi- ty Arts Theatre (GOCAT) Foun- dation and the City of Orange have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to lubri- cate the fundraising efforts of the nonprofit. Under a conceptual agreement two years ago, the city agreed to save space in Grijalva Park for a 50,000-sq.-ft. performing arts venue. At that time, the city had created a master plan for the park and offered space to nonprofits willing to raise funds to build specific facilities. Groups able to finance construction of venues on their wish lists would be given the go-ahead. Since then, GOCAT has raised $500,000 for the com- munity arts theatre and asked the city to formalize the conceptual agreement. In addition, the city agreed to naming rights, allowing GOCAT to offer name-specified facili- ties, rooms, buildings, benches, stages, seats or other architectural features, to donors in exchange for contributions. The MOU is good for five years and does not hold the city respon- sible for theatre operations or fi- nancing. Once GOCAT has raised sufficient funds to build the the- ater, it will negotiate a separate partnership agreement with the city. CFO named Nonprofit of the Year The Community Foundation of Orange (CFO) was named Non- profit of the Year by the Orange Chamber of Commerce. Cele- brating their 20th anniversary in 2020, the CFO has made a lasting impact on youth, families, seniors and veterans. The CFO, with 27 diverse volunteer board members, has been helping to build strong foundations in the greater Orange community since 2000. With a motto of “Give Where You Live,” the CFO takes pride in partnering with other organizations within the city, leading a unified effort to preserve and enhance its sense of community. The Foundation worked hard in 2020 to find creative ways to do the most good with limited re- sources. Partnering with Orange Home Grown in early spring, the CFO launched an “Orange Strong” yard sign campaign to support the small family farmers of OHG, and ultimately, the ef- forts of Waste Not OC Coalition. The campaign provided $31,000 in aid. Working with the City of Or- ange, the CFO hosted the 6th Annual Field of Valor, honoring local active duty military and veterans, while raising funds to be distributed to local veterans’ organizations.
