Playoff brackets are scheduled for Feb. 8. Orange High School Athletic Director Alicia Seevers said the men’s basketball team would have played four rescheduled games in five days. In the week before the Christ- mas break, the community colleg- es postponed 40 games in South- ern California and were not able to get back on track till Jan. 17. The California State Commu- nity College Commission has extended their season as well. Santiago Canyon College (14-1), Winter sports schedule extended ranked fourth in the state, is one notch behind rival Fullerton. San- tiago Canyon was riding an 11- game win streak after a 137-86 win over Santa Ana. It was the second highest score in school history. Six players were in double figures, with Eric Howin leading the team with 30 points. Sophomore David Agba leads the team with 215 points and Howin second with 206. Foothill High girls water polo (2-0, 8-9) and Orange Lutheran were tied for third place in the Di- vision 1 rankings. They settled the tie at Foothill, OLu posting a 12-6 non-league win. It was the second meeting of the season with Foothill winning the first match. Madison Carney (12) from Orange High School knocks the ball loose from Kaira Rajnekar from Whitney High School. Upcoming events The North-South Prep All-Star game kicks off at Newport Har- bor High School Feb.5 at 6 p.m. The 51st National Football Foundation-Orange County Chapter will award numerous scholarships to graduating se- niors March 14 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove. It should be a record turn out, as each school has nominated 5-7 players worthy of scholarship money to continue their college education and play football.
