During the day, students shared with sixth grade students what they had learned about the Mid- dle Ages in their social studies classes. In the evening, Hewes hosted a community event for families and friends to learn all about medieval times and meet the big feudal people from Europe and Japan. Tustin Dems focus on youth empowerment The Tustin Democratic Club’s February meeting will feature Laura W. Brill, focusing on em- powering young people to vote and participate in the political pro- cess. Brill is director of the Civics Center, an organization that en- courages youth civic engagement through education, organizing and advocacy at the high school level. The meeting will also fea- ture Sarah Jakle, founder and ex- ecutive director of DemocraShe, which trains and mentors high school female-identifying stu- dents to be the youngest slate of future transformational female legislators. The book sale runs from 10 a.m. Villa Park Women's League fetes city birthday The Villa Park Women’s League will celebrate the 60th birthday of the Hidden Jewel at its general meeting on Thurs., Feb. 17. The program “Happy Birthday, Villa Park” will feature exhibits from the City's past and com- memorative speakers.
