Foothill has now hired seasoned high school basketball coach Matt Tietz, left. Tietz comes from Laguna Beach High School, and was an assistant at Northview High School in Irvine. The new Foot- hill coach is working toward get- ting the team back on a winning track. Foothill High School started the year out right, handing sixth- ranked Laguna Beach a 15-13 loss in girls water polo. Foothill is ranked number 2 behind Orange Lutheran in Divi- sion 1. Orange Lutheran High School girls volleyball players Westley Matavao (9) and Marley Robin- son (9) were named to the Divi- sion 2 All-CIF team. Chloe Nguyen (12) and Sydney Valentine (12) from Canyon High School were named to the Divi- sion 3 All-CIF team. In boys water polo, Foothill High School athlete William Griswold (12) was named to the Division 1 All-CIF team. Aiden Demkiw (12) from Can- yon High School and teammate Jacob Winsberg (11) were named to the Division 3 All-CIF team. Ethan Bonnell gets an uncontested shot off in the game against Foot- hill. Damien Parker, former Villa Park athlete, scored 8 points on 8 rebounds against Saddleback College for Santiago Canyon College. Parker is av- eraging 3.7 assists per game. In the Crestview League, Can- yon High School (19-4) holds a one game lead over Foothill (2-0, 8-2). Canyon is ranked number 4 in Division 2; in Division 6, El Modena (0-2, 10-9) is ranked at number 4.
