Canyon High School qualified five teams for the Division 2 CIF- SS playoffs. Eliminated in the first round were Canyon volleyball and boys lacrosse. Canyon soft- ball advanced to the quarterfinals, shutting out Camarillo, 11-0 in a first round win; the season ended with a loss to Orange Lutheran, 7-4. Foothill High’s girls lacrosse team was ranked No. 1 and was the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 lacrosse playoffs. The team faced Marlborough High School look- ing for revenge from last year’s loss in the championship finals. Foothill struggled to stay within one goal. Marlborough scored three goals in quick succession, taking a 7-3 lead. FHS Knights' Ilana Blum and Ava Pistone scored a goal each to cut the lead to 7-5, going into the third period. Marlborough scored five quick goals. Foothill responded with three, with only 6:18 remaining. The final score was in Marlbor- ough’s favor, 14-8, leaving Foot- hill as runner-up in Division 1. In Division 2 girls lacrosse, Canyon lost to Chaparral High School by one point. Canyon was tied with Chaparral, 6-6, and let it slip away in the fourth quarter, ending at 6-7. The season came to an end for the El Modena girls softball team when Mater Dei outscored them, 2-4. The ElMo boys baseball team lost to South Torrance, 6-8, after a first round win over Dana Hills, 9-3. In Division 1 boys baseball, Foothill lost to La Mirada, 2-5. Villa Park succumbed to Hunting- ton Beach in the second round, 3-5.
