Soroptimists prevail in pandemic Focusing on its mission of em- powerment, Soroptimist Interna- tional of Santa Ana/Tustin, this past year, supported Wise Place, a facility that provides housing and training for homeless women; Women Helping Women; and the Tustin Community Foundation’s Friends Feeding Seniors program. A key Soroptimists program is the Live Your Dream Awards, unique education grants for wom- en who provide the primary fi- nancial support for their families. These awards give women the resources they need to improve education, skills and employment prospects. This year, the club gave two awards. The group also awards scholar- ships to a senior girl in the Santa Ana and Tustin School District. Tu- stin Unified School District sixth- through eighth-grade students in teacher Jessica Bo- das’ “Photography: Shoot Like a Pro” class are practicing their photo skills with a duck as a model. Baby duck Bubbles allowed the students to take a quack at photographing moving objects. It was a very producktive day. Students are also learning about photo composition, lighting, design strategies and processing.
