The May 23 approval amends a March permit parking only restriction that did not include streets neighboring Sycamore Avenue. To address the potential parking intrusion from unpermitted vehicles onto adjacent streets, the city council recommended expanding the permitted parking area before it became a problem. City staff expedited the process, queried residents and found that a 77.5% majority of homeowners on the affected streets favored permit parking. Typically, permit parking requests are presented to both the City Traffic Commission (CTC) and city council for approval. Because this request came directly from the city council, it went directly back to that body.
