Cohen Gomez from Canyon High School was named Player of the Year. Austin Duarte (11) and Jackson Chastain (12) from Canyon High School were named to the Division 4 All-CIF team. In Division 1, Gavin Grahovac (12) from Villa Park High School was named All-CIF. Rotary Club of Villa Park and Villa ParkWomen’s League invite the community to come together for a “September to Remember.” A spectacular evening of giving back will be held on Sun., Sept. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. 2023 Girls lacrosse Mia Marchetti from Foothill High School was honored as the Division 1 Player of the Year. Teammates from the championship team were Mikayla Yang (12), Kayla Agarie (9), Courtney Copeland (12), Ali Shimabuku (12), and Tatum Walshe (12). In Division 3, Abigail Nattagh- Turner from Orange Lutheran was named All-CIF. 2023 Boys lacrosse In Division 1, Head Coach Jon Fox from Foothill High School was named Championship Coach, and Luke Fox (12) was named Player of the Year. Jackson Hines and Cohen Krudwig from Foothill High School were named to the All-CIF team. In Division 3, Andrew Schuerger (12) and Andrew Demogines (11) from Canyon High School were named to the All-CIF team. 2023 All-CIF Softball In Division 1, Kai Minor (10) from Orange Lutheran High School, and Auddrey Lira (10) from Villa Park High School were named All-CIF. Samantha Gresham (10) from Canyon High School, Division 3, was named All-CIF. Orange County Athlete Directors honor 2023 Athletes of Character From Canyon High School, awardees were Julia Nagengast, soccer; and Pasha Golestaneh, football and basketball. Foothill High School honorees were Amanda Kendall, volleyball; and Marco Manzi, basketball. Orange Lutheran athlete awardees were Madi Bogan, basketball; and Gabe Morin, football. From Orange High School, awardees were Charlotte Lundell, cross country, basketball, track; and Isaac Guerra, football, soccer, golf. The awardees fromTustin High School were Mary Olsen, volleyball, water polo, swim; and Eli Nyeazi, basketball. Villa Park High School honorees for 2023 were Estelle McLeary, track & field; and Gavin Grahovac, track & field. The Olive Pony 7u Hurricanes, in the Pinto age bracket, are on their way to the West Zone Finals, after winning the District Championship. Chapman University receives $1 million gift A $1 million donation from Women of Chapman aims to strengthen Chapman University’s safety net for its more than 80% of students who receive financial aid. The gift supports the Women of Chapman Student Hardship Assistant Fund, which aids students facing immediate and unexpected hardship, such as expenses related to housing, food, transportation, technology, medical bills or traveling home during a family crisis. Women of Chapman previously made a $1 million endowment to support student filmmakers at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, the No. 4-ranked film school in the nation.
