The Tustin Area Council of Fine Arts (TACFA) is teaming up once again with Lythgoe Family Productions and GiveKidsPanto to produce this beloved musical, filled with timeless hits and un- forgettable characters. Directed by Barry Pearl, who played the role of Doody in the 1978 film, this production prom- ises a magical evening of enter- tainment. As the summer nights set the perfect backdrop, the cast is ready to bring the story of Rydell High to life. TACFA asked Mary Des- mond, who plays Sandy, and Hayden Kharrazi who plays Danny, to share their thoughts on the production. TACFA: Mary, how do you relate to Sandy’s character, and are there any aspects of her personality that you find par- ticularly challenging to portray? Desmond: I’m excited to play Sandy because I relate to her good girl, rule-follower personal- ity. As I’ve become an adult, I’ve gained confidence in standing up for myself while keeping kind- ness first, which is a big part of Sandy’s character. TACFA: What are you most looking forward to for this sum- mer’s performances? Desmond: I’m looking for- ward to meeting the entire cast and team, and working with them. I am excited to perform this iconic music that I’ve loved so much since I was a child. TACFA: Hayden, what drew you to the role of Danny, and what do you enjoy most about playing him? Kharrazi : The role of Danny has been a bucket list role of mine since I was a little kid. Elvis has always been a hero of mine, so I try to infuse a little bit of Elvis into any role I play. That comes easy with someone like Danny. He’s got great songs, great lines and interesting relationships with the other characters at Rydell High. I’m excited to take on the role professionally, after having played him in high school when I was 15. TACFA: What are you look- ing most forward to for this sum- mer’s performances? Kharrazi: I’m most excited to perform this show outdoors. It’s the perfect setting to tell the story of "Grease," especially during the summer. We’ll be telling the story of ‘Summer Nights’ as the sum- mer night skies are directly over our heads. It’s gonna be a blast. Tickets are available at tacfa. org.
