(714) 334-1800 www.lacolinaliving.com INSURANCE Tustin Unified School District Candidates My husband and I have lived in Tustin for nearly 30 years and have owned a small business for 24 years. Our son graduated from Foothill High School. As your Tustin School Board member, I have had the privilege of providing leadership to im- prove student achievement and ensure Tustin Unified is recog- nized as an outstanding school district. I have worked together with parents and teachers to set a vision of excellence and innova- tion focusing on creating choice I am a life-long resident of North Tustin. I attended Tustin schools and I have a Ph.D. in En- docrinology from U.C. Davis. I am running for office because there are schools in the district where >80 percent of the students do not score at their grade level and the current board has done nothing to solve this problem. Additionally, the board continues to seek bonds to free up money in the budget to pay the increasing burden of the unfunded teachers’ pension obligations. The incum- Kirk Hahn Area 1 Tammie K. Bullard Area 1 It is time to bring fresh ideas and a solution-driven mindset to the work we do on behalf of over 23,000 students. As a pro- fessionally trained chemical en- gineer, I have the experience to for our families. Together we’ve accomplished much: opening the new Legacy Magnet Academy; creation of the Spanish Dual Language Im- mersion Program; development of two new middle school mag- net programs; expansion of the award-winning robotics program; increased AP courses; providing cutting-edge career and techni- cal education pathways; provid- ing professional development for teachers and staff; and imple- menting an improved distance learning model that provides par- ents with choice. My priorities remain student achievement, safety and wellness; prudent budgeting and facilities maintenance; and recruiting and retaining high-quality staff. I have the experience and lead- ership to keep our district mov- ing forward with innovative and excellent opportunities for all our students while ensuring academic excellence that strengthens our community and preserves home values. www.Tammie4TustinSchools. com bent has been in office for 24 years and she either cannot or will not solve the problems with underperfoming schools and pension obligations. The other candidate states she is a liberal and is endorsed by the Teacher’s Union, so it is doubtful if she will address these issues. I am the best choice for filling the board seat for North Tustin Area 1. My goals are for every student in el- ementary school to score at their grade level, seek term limits for board members and address the unfunded pension obligations without seeking bonds to cover the shortfall. These are unprecedented times that re- quire a bold vision to develop effective teaching strategies that prioritize educational excellence without compromising the social, emotional, mental and physical health of our students, teachers, staff, and families. My husband and I moved here to raise our fam- ily. As the proud mother of three TUSD students, I have dedicated my time to ensuring families have a voice at the table as the PTO President of both Columbus Tus- tin Middle School and Beckman High School. Let’s bring everyone to the table, explore new ideas and work to ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential. I’m honored to be unanimously endorsed by Tustin’s classroom teachers, nurses, bus drivers and support staff. Through years of involvement, I’ve built strong, positive relationships with stakeholders throughout Tustin. Collaborative leadership, trans- parency and open communication will better serve everyone’s inter- ests, including local taxpayers. I hope to earn your vote on Nov. 3.
