Frost’s book was recently reviewed in the New York Times and praised for its memorable characters. Copies of the new book will be available for purchase and sign- ing after the event. Tustin Foundation grant applications being accepted The Tustin Community Foun- dation (TCF) invites nonprofit organizations and schools serving the Tustin community to apply for grant funding. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 30, and are available at tustincommunity- foundation.org . Over the past 16 years, TCF has awarded 315 grants, reflect- ing its commitment to community engagement. The grants, funded by individual donations and fun- draising events, support a diverse range of initiatives, including hunger relief, housing assistance, youth programs, senior services, the arts, cultural heritage pres- ervation, environmental sustain- ability, and outreach efforts for underserved and disadvantaged groups. The 2024 TCF Community Grants will be awarded at the Tu- stin Mayor's Thanksgiving Break- fast on Thursday, Nov. 21. Elks recognize achievements of Orange City Fire cadets The Orange Elks take pride in supporting the youth in the com- munity, and recognize student achievements each month. In Au- gust, Youth Achievement Awards were presented to Orange City Fire Explorers Cadet Chief Jake Esterholt and Cadet Javier Soto. The cadet program’s prima- ry goal is to help young adults choose a career path within fire and emergency services, and to challenge them to become re- sponsible citizens of their com- munities and country. The pro- gram is open to boys and girls ages 14 to 24, with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of fire and emergency services. Both Esterholt and Soto were recognized for going above and beyond what is expected, hav- ing a passion for the program and showing exceptional leadership. The Elks award champions them as exceptional first responders of tomorrow.
