Page 15 Foothills Sentry SEPTEMBER 2024 Orange Acres Back Breakers compete at the OC Fair The Orange Acres Back Break- ers 4-H Club (OABB) received its moniker years ago, when rais- ing farm animals was considered “back-breaking” work. It still is hard work, calling for commitment and responsibility. The 4-H members who elected to raise animals – steers, heifers, goats, pigs or sheep – have spent months caring for, training and readying their animals for judg- ing at the Orange County Fair. The hard work paid off. The OABB beef team won First Place in the Beef Group class. The group also brought home ribbons for rabbits and sheep, OABB is gearing up for its new program year, and co-community leaders Debbie Mongan and Me- lissa Sara invite youth, ages 5-18 to join. Projects currently include sheep, beef, dairy goats, market goats, swine, poultry, horse and pony, Pygmy goats and public speaking. Reach out to OABB4h@ya- hoo.com or see OC4h.org for more information. Grace Khan took First Place in Senior Beef Showmanship with her steer Toby.
