Tustin Ave Orange, CA 92866 Bus: 714-505-3400 ron@ronesparza.com Honoring our past Planning for our future adriennefororange.com PAID FOR BY GLADSON FOR COUNCIL 2022 ID#: 1397503 Villa Park City Council Candidates Donna Buxton I am a 19-year resident of Villa Park. Since retirement, I have successfully led fundraising projects for CHOC Hospital and Paralyzed Veterans of America. I’ve co-chaired two Villa Park resident committees to improve traffic and address parking prob- lems in our community, working closely with residents, city staff and Orange Unified School Dis- trict administrators. My efforts have demonstrated strong leadership and skills in problem-solving and teamwork. I have gained knowledge of city processes and developed rela- tionships with staff and decision- makers. I have been a regular par- ticipant at city council meetings and am a respected voice. My participation has provided valuable insights regarding the challenges facing Villa Park: state mandates, development in adjacent communities, and rising costs due to inflation. As a coun- cilmember, my priorities will in- clude preserving our community, protecting property values, main- taining our low crime rate, and fiscal responsibility. I have earned a reputation as a level-headed straight shooter who works well with others. With your vote, I will put those qualities to work protecting Villa Park, the Hidden Jewel we know and love. Mary Beth Felcyn I was raised in Villa Park and fell in love with the people and Nicol Jones atmosphere of our community. After college, I returned to Villa Park to raise my own family and, for the past 25 years, have en- joyed seeing my children attend the same schools I did as a child. In my professional career, I worked in accounting and IT for a small family business for over 25 years. In recent years, I have fully dedicated myself to community service, volunteering and holding many leadership positions in our local nonprofits. Over the years, you may have seen me around town: working the costume contest at the Crystal Miles I am an 18-year resident of Vil- la Park, along with my husband Villa Park provides a safe place and friendly community for resi- dents to raise their children, sup- Jordan Wu Villa Park faces multiple significant challenges. Developments in adjacent areas will increase traffic. The state housing mandate will result in 1,200 new Villa Park residents. Inflation will diminish our budget. Costs for law enforcement, road maintenance and capital projects are already projected to increase significantly this year. On council, I will be vigilant to prioritize and reduce expenses to limit these impacts. I will work with the residents to identify strategies to protect and enhance our property values and to maintain services and our low crime rate. I support the city’s plan to meet the State Affordable Housing of 19 years, raising our two boys, ages 14 and 17, both of whom attend VPHS. Aside from work- ing alongside my husband at our business of 22 years, I proudly serve on VP City Council. My core values of dedication, persistence, compromise, integ- rity, and honesty have guided me these past 4 years as a Villa Park Councilwoman, including my one term as mayor. I have ad- dressed resident concerns regard- ing budget, infrastructure, beau- tification, and safety. As mayor, I broke ground for our first VP City Park, submitted the State port their families, and enjoy their retirement. This is why we moved here in 2016. My wife and I immediately got involved by taking on the task of co-chairing the annual HalloweenFest. As a member of the VPCS Foundation board, I broadened our commu- nity outreach and created many of our multicultural celebration events. Fortunately, I had the oppor- tunity to retire early, working as a stay-at-home dad actively in- volved in my two daughters' lives and education. This decision pro- vides me with the time to dedicate Mandate, which centers on restoring and developing the Smith Basin, an abandoned gravel mine, to provide mixed-use retail/ residential units. This approach will limit impacts to our established residential neighborhoods. I will prioritize this development to ensure that it enhances Villa Park while providing needed sales tax revenue. I will champion development of asset management plans for sewer and road maintenance. The plans would assess the condition of the systems and identify need- ed maintenance and capital proj- ects. Resident input is key. HalloweenFest, helping with the City of Villa Park’s 50th Anniversary, or selling spirit wear at VPHS. If elected as a member of the City Council, I will prioritize: •Maintaining public safety •Fiscal responsibility •Addressing school traffic •Fighting state overreach into our local zoning laws. Villa Park is a unique commu- nity, and I want to maintain that small-town feel that people come back to, generation after genera- tion. I humbly ask for your vote. Jones4VP.org Mandated Housing Element Up- date on time, championed the first ever pin recognizing Veterans who live in Villa Park, and held monthly Coffee with the Mayor to encourage resident feedback. In 2018, the residents elected me to city council, and I made a promise to base my decisions on data. I have been consistent in that promise and respectfully ask for your continued support. I would be honored to continue to serve the community for another 4 years. A vote for me is a vote to keep the City of Villa Park our Hidden Jewel. myself to connecting our commu- nity and helping people’s con- cerns. You can count on me to: • Maintain fiscal responsibility • Keep the Hidden Jewel safe from crime • Listen closely to the needs of Villa Park residents • Embrace, empower and encour- age our multicultural community. I will be your voice for positive change and work with other council members to unite our community. I humbly ask for your vote and support. Together, we can keep our Hidden Jewel shining!
