The local troops, ranging from the kindergarten-first grade Daisy level through middle school Ca- dettes, participated. Groups of no more than 15 marched for 30 minutes, from the library/city hall around the Or- ange Plaza. The Scouts were primarily dressed in white, as early suffrag- ists would be, and donned sashes and made signs in the suffragist colors of purple and yellow, with signs declaring “Votes for Wom- en,” “Rise Up Women” and “100 Years of Votes.” The Scouts were cheered on by passersby, and many people asked to take photos with them. Com- munity support for this event was positive and the Scouts consid- ered it an honor to celebrate this historical event and milestone. Eighth grade Cadettes from Girl Scout Troop 3332, left to right, Kirst- en Lieberman, Emma Wu and Lorelei Chapa celebrated women earn- ing the right to vote. Daisy Scouts, from left, Scottie Jo Coates, Charlotte Balmages, El- sie Mendoza in vintage suffragette attire, Chiara Munoz and Delaney Schmidt let Orange citizens know the significance of this date in history. Do-you-think-he-saurus? The Tustin Public Schools Foundation’s an- nual Dinosaur Dash is detouring. This year, TPSF is hosting a virtual 5K. Participants can run, walk or ride a bike in support of the Founda- tion and schools in the Tustin Unified School District. Each registra- tion earns a donation to a TUSD school, and participants will receive a Dino Detour medal, race bib, T-shirt and swag bag. So wear your face mask and join Dash Dino and elementary school students, from left, Aubrey Lumbard, Jake Cordeiro and Jack Lumbard, and register, before Saturday, Nov. 7 at dinosaurdash.net. You’ll have a dino-mite time! – Mark Eliot VPWL to host Frumpy Mom Marla Jo Fisher, the hardcore news reporter turned frumpy mid- dle-aged mom and cheapo-travel guru, will share her wit and wis- dom at the Villa Park Women’s Club general meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 19. The Frumpy Mom, touted as a modern-day Erma Bombeck, shares the humor found in the everyday trials of raising the two children, Cheetah Boy and Curly Girl, she adopted, and tak- ing them on travels (cheaply) throughout the world. For information about VPWL membership and activities, see vpwl.org . Fisher’s first book, “Frumpy Middle-Aged Mom: Dispatches from the Front Lines of Motherhood,” may be pre- ordered via the same website, or through Amazon. • Adrienne Gladson on Mea- sure AA: “The mayor’s friend- ship with all the parties involved, including the lobbyist, should be vetted. Voters have a right to know.” • Mark Murphy: “She is a paid lobbyist herself, yet she’s critical of my friendship with an- other lobbyist. I guess I shouldn’t socialize with her either.” • Mike Alvarez withdrew his endorsement of Arianna Bar- rios after the Republican Central Committee threatened to “go after him and term limits” if he didn’t. • John Dumitru withdrew from the District 2 OTPA forum because his campaign team ad- vised him not to participate. • Caroline Alatorre pulled out of the District 2 race to support Daniel Correa . • In the four-way race for the District 2 council seat, Daniel Correa is the only candidate who showed up for the OTPA forum. All candidates were invited. • In the OUSD contest for three seats on the board of trustees, incumbents John Ortega and Alexia Deligianni-Brydges were no-shows at a scheduled candi- date debate. • District 5 candidate Ana Gui- terrez did not have the opportu- nity to debate her opponent Rick Ledesma because he cancelled his appearance – twice. • Campaign literature for can- didates Mark Murphy, Dave Vazquez and Rick Ledesma was created by the same company, an affiliate of the consultant for the Santiago Creek development. • During the OTPA candidate forums, speakers were warned that if they exceeded one min- ute, a bell would be rung. The bell was rung only once, shutting down John Russo 62 seconds in to one of his answers. No other candidate was subjected to the bell, although every one of them spoke over the allotted time. • Danett Abbott-Wicker dis- appeared from the District 3 fo- rum seven minutes in. She didn’t stay long enough to give an open- ing statement.
