The Foundation, with Ron Es- parza heading the sports programs, donated $4,000 to advance Orange High Boys and Girls wrestling, al- lowing athletes to participate in a wrestling camp under the guid- ance of Coach Weston Hawkins. OUPSF continues to raise funds to spearhead new initiatives. For more information, see oupsf.org . Coach Weston Hawkins, in blue at left, and OUPSF board member Ron Esparza, far right, presented a check to Orange High's Citrus wrestlers. Paul Howard Taylor, Jr. was born Nov. 8, 1944 in Bayside, NY to Paul and Mildred Taylor. He was the second oldest of four children. Paul attended Bayside High School, where he was on the basketball and swim teams, and played the violin in the school orchestra. After high school, Paul enlisted in the Naval Reserves while attending college. He served on active duty in the Viet- nam War as a Seabee. When he returned home, his family moved to Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Paul then attended the Univer- sity of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he played basketball. After graduation, Paul joined Spaulding Sporting Goods. He was asked to relocate to either North Dakota, South Dakota, Ne- braska and Iowa, or Southern Cal- ifornia. It was an easy choice, and Paul moved to California. After Spaulding, Paul worked for 3M, which led to a career in advertis- ing. Seventeen Magazine, inflight magazines for several major air- lines, Venture, and Dun’s Busi- ness Month were all recipients of Paul’s winning salesmanship. While juggling a busy career, Paul joined the Naval Reserves as a public affairs officer and served 27 years before he retired as a Lt. Commander in 1994. In September 2001, Paul start- ed JPMultimedia, a CD and DVD replication company. Paul met Judy Olsen in New- Paul Howard Taylor 1944 – 2023 port Beach on a Sunday after- noon, where he won her heart by serenading her on a lifeguard stand. They dated for two years and were married on Aug. 10, 1974 in Tucson (Judy’s home- town). They established a home in Orange in 1976 where they raised three children, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Kristin, and created a lifetime of cherished friends and memories. Paul loved his family, his home, his dogs, classic coun- try music, and being an active member of his community. He was most proud of helping found the Fathers’ Club at Linda Vista Elementary, serving the Orange Unified School District on the Elementary Advisory Board, the Citizen’s Steering Committee for Better Schools, and the El Modena Education Foundation. Paul also enjoyed volunteering at the Orange Police Department and being president of both the Annapolis Parent’s Club (Na- val Academy) and Kings Point Parents’ Club (Merchant Marine Academy), where his sons attend- ed college. Well known for his sense of humor, the honorary “Mayor of White Dove” (the street he lived on for 44 years), Paul will be re- membered as a devoted husband, a loving dad, a playful grandpa and a proud veteran. Paul is preceded in death by his father, mother, oldest sister Nancy, and younger brother Wil- liam. He leaves behind Judy, his loving wife of almost 50 years, son Stephen (Jacqueline); son Jeffrey (Felicia); daughter Kris- tin Shaw (Jeff); sister Elizabeth Bellucci; and seven grandchil- dren, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebra- tion of Life will be held on Nov. 10 at 11:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers in Paul’s honor.
