Foothills Sentry Page 14 November 2023 COMMUNITY SPORTS BY CLIFF ROBBINS AND CHAD CLINE Brumm inducted into Hall of Fame 2023 Former Foothill High School Water Polo Coach Jim Brumm was inducted into the 39th CIF- Southern Section Hall of Fame at the Grand Hotel, Oct. 18. Brumm spent 40 years coach- ing aquatics at Huntington Beach High School and closed his career out at Foothill. He posted a 436- 180 boys and 194-99 girls win- loss record. The seven-time CIF-SS Boys Water Polo Coach of the Year scored 15 boys league champion- ships and three girls league cham- pionships, seven boys and one girls CIF-SS Championship, one Boys CIF State Southern Califor- nia Regional Championship and one Girls CIF State Champion- ship. Brumm also coached two Girls CIF-SS and CIF State Players of the Year. Brumm also coached 48 boys All-CIF volleyball players and 17 girls All-CIF volleyball players. The new Hall of Famer coached 78 All-Americans, three Olympians and nine CIF-SS Players of the Year. Future Foothill High cheerleaders showcased their talents at Foot- hill's Homecoming game vs. Brea Olinda, Oct. 21. Troy Parker from El Modena com- pleted a pass and won the game over El Dorado, 38-10, securing a share of the league title. Christian Tafua from El Modena hauls in this TD pass for 18 yards against Esperanza. El Modena won, 41-20. Xzavior Guess, quarterback from El Modena High, rushed for 36 yards, including this touchdown run against Esperanza. Vince Corral from Santiago Canyon College stops a pass in the Sad- dleback game. Saddleback won, 4-1. Nathan Grove (14) from Villa Park High School reaches in to block the shot of Ethan Halter of El Modena. Villa Park pulled off a stunner, winning in double overtime. Josh Poylio, El Modena goalkeeper, sees it coming from a shot from Villa Park’s Nickolas O’Hare (5). Rowan Dillard from Canyon High captures a touchdown pass from quarterback Roxana Williamson. Canyon took fifth place in the girls flag football league. David Razon (4) from El Modena defends Jayden Villegas from Villa Park High (with ball). Villa Park won the game in overtime, 8-7. Bailey Dillard from Canyon High intercepts a pass midfield against El Dorado. El Dorado outlasted Canyon, 19-12, in girls flag foot- ball.
