Episode one ran Oct. 19 on the CIF-SS YouTube (@cifss) and website as well as SBlive’s web- site. Upcoming episodes will fea- ture CIF-SS Assistant Commis- sioner Thom Simmons, Mater Dei Boys Basketball Head Coach Canyon High School (19-3) went undefeated in the North Hills League (6-0) and hosted Saugus High School (28-5) in the first round of the Division 3 Girls Volleyball Playoffs. It was the second time Canyon faced Saugus this season. Canyon lost the first game, 18- 25 ,but outlasted Saugus, 29-27, in the second game to tie. Can- yon won games three and four for the victory. In the second round, Canyon played against Roosevelt High School (27-6). Another battle, after a two-game tie, and Canyon won it, 15-10, to win 3-2. Senior Sydney Valentine sparked a 5-0 run. A kill tied the game 10-10, then Valentine got a point off a block, followed by another kill to take the lead, 12- 10. Roosevelt couldn’t return, and Rowan Dillard’s kill ex- tended the lead to 14-10. Valen- tine returned a shot for the final blow to advance the team to the quarterfinals against Dana Hills (20-2). Villa Park (9-16), the North Hills number two team, was eliminated by South Torrance in the first round in Division 3. Gary McKnight and HarvardWest- lake Boys Basketball Head Coach David Rebibo. SBLive’s Tarel Fattal will host, and topics will include everything from transfer talks, by-laws, past and present player highlights and fun facts. SBLive is also introducing a new high school scoreboard in which you can track your favorite teams and players. Chloe Nguyen from Canyon High is solid on the back line. Canyon won the first two rounds of the Girls Volleyball Playoffs. Canyon High School quarterback Corin Rynders connects with a receiver. During the season, Rynders has thrown for 10 touchdowns and 1,518 yards. Will Hernandez from Foothill High gets a gift to the face mask and made the tackle. Juan Juarez from Foothill High stops an El Dorado running back in his tracks. After fielding the kick-off, Jack Zerkel from Foothill High sees a clear path of real estate ahead. Canyon's Nikki Monfared was instrumental, coming up with some big blocks in the playoffs. Kaylee Avalos (17) from Orange High School goes for the block against Santa Ana. Orange won the game, 3-0. Orange High's Keila Pineda sets the ball against Santa Ana.
