The gala, which also celebrated the nonprofit’s 100th anniversary, was held Sept. 28 at the Richard Nixon Library and Museum in Yorba Linda. Guests donated to the Friendly Center via a live auction and pad- dle raise, led by auctioneer Sean Kelley, following dinner and pre- sentations. Friendly Center's CEO Kenia Cueto, presented the vision of the next 100 years of Friendly Center with an emphasis on its three pil- lars: Food and Basic Needs, Fam- ily Services, and Education and Workforce Development. A surprise performance by musical group Rythmo Mariachi — a Friendly Center mariachi school legacy—brought smiles to guests’ faces as they performed “De Colores,” a traditional ma- riachi song. Officials in attendance in- cluded City of Orange Mayor Dan Slater, City of Buena Park Mayor Susan Sonne, Vice Mayor of Buena Park Joyce Ahn and Orange County Board Supervi- sor, Fourth District Doug Chaffee and wife Paulette Chaffee. Spon- sors for the evening included AO Architects, Chapman University, Cummins & White, LLP., Sha- ron D. Lund Foundation, United Business Bank and US Bank.
