Claude Barker Prettyman Jr. 1931-2022 Claude was born April 8, 1931 in Philadelphia to Claude Sr. and Olga Prettyman, and passed on September 22. He graduated from Westchester University, Pennsyl- vania in 1953. He moved to Villa Park in 1974. He always loved music, and in college he had a big band and played in places like the Dupont. He loved telling the story of how at 17 he drove the newly- elected governor of Delaware from Laurel, Delaware to Dover for his inauguration. He was a Lieutenant JG in the Navy on his way to Korea and stopped in Hawaii, where he met his wife, Roberta (Bobbie) Turnbull. She was a Pan Am stewardess on a stayover in Honolulu. They fell in love and were married in Spokane, Washington as soon as he got back in 1955. They had five children: Cindy Prettyman; Tracy Prettyman; Claude Prettyman 3rd, married to Jill; Patty Ferdi married to Bill; and Janice Prettyman Holland, married to Robbie. They had five grandchildren: Amber, Ellese, Jamie, Tom and Bryana, and nine great-grandchildren. After the Navy, Claude was in real estate, then worked as an agent at Allstate Insurance. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world with Bobbie. Music still stayed an important part of his life, singing the jazz classics of the 30s, 40s and 50s, and work- ing with video production and au- dio recordings. Claude was active in his com- munity, volunteering at the Villa Park community access television station, where he served as presi- dent of the board for 10 years. He also sang with Diz Chords, who performed all over Orange Coun- ty, especially at Christmas time.
