31 HBI Events Home Builders Institute (HBI) is the nation’s leading provider of trade skills training and education for the building industry. Our mission is ‘We change lives by education, inspiring and preparing individuals for careers in the building industry.’ Through our industry-recognized curriculum, HBI trains in a variety of skills including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building construction technology, HVAC, landscaping, masonry, and solar installation. In programs across the country, HBI provides preapprenticeship training and certification, as well as job placement services. HBI prepares its students – including at-risk youth, veterans, transitioning military members, high school students, justice-involved youth and adults, and displaced workers – with the skills and experience they need for successful careers. HBI graduates are trained and ready to work across many different construction industry sectors, giving businesses a competitive edge when hiring new workers. Visitors can also explore the trades in a whole new way by stepping into virtual reality! This is a unique opportunity to: • Engage with students and instructors to understand the hands-on training that prepares participants for careers in the building trades. • Learn about HBI’s pre-apprenticeship programs across the U.S. and how employers can hire HBI graduates. • Discuss opportunities for collaboration with HBI to strengthen workforce pipelines and meet industry demand in your local area. • Compete in our annual nail driving contest—test your skills against an apprentice and enter to win exciting prizes! NAHB Student Chapters Events NAHB’s Student Chapters enrich the educational experience of students by offering first-hand exposure to the home building industry and lay the foundation for successful careers. Student Chapters promote careers in residential construction, enhance education and career development for future generations of leaders in construction and skilled craft professions, and address the labor shortage by promoting careers in construction.
