31 HBI Events HBI is the national leader for career training in the building industry. Through certification programs, pre-apprenticeships, and job placement services. HBI prepares its students – including at-risk youth, veterans, transitioning military members, high school students, justice-involved youth and adults, and displaced workers – with the skills and experience they need for successful careers in the building industry. HBI graduates are trained and ready to work across many different construction industry sectors, giving businesses a competitive edge when hiring new workers. Learn about HBI’s pre-apprenticeship programs across the U.S. and how employers can hire HBI graduates. Visitors can also enter a drawing and compete against an apprentice in the annual nail driving contest. Thursday, February 27 Presentation Of The NAHB Chairman’s Award and Shirley McVay Wiseman Award For Exceptional Promise at the NAHB Leadership Council Meeting 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM Westgate - Paradise Event Center Two outstanding HBI Program graduates are recognized annually at the NAHB International Builders’ Show for their exemplary achievements in the building industry. The Shirley McVay Wiseman Award for Exceptional Promise is presented to an outstanding female graduate. The NAHB Chairman’s Award is presented to an exceptional male graduate. NAHB Student Chapters Events NAHB’s Student Chapters enrich the educational experience of students by offering first-hand exposure to the home building industry and lay the foundation for successful careers.
