L O C A L E V E N T The Renowned Palm Springs Air MuseumMemorial Day Flower Drop & Air Fair returns with retooling for Covid Protocols: instead of only one day, the Palm Springs Air Museum’s Flower Drop will occur on over two days: Sunday and Monday, May 30 and 31, 2021. As in years’ past, the day includes music, Victory Canteen, kids’ activities, and airplanes taking off and landing on the tarmac, and of course the highlight of the day, the dropping of red and white carnations from a vintage B-25 Mitchell Bomber, after the Missing Man Formation with four vintage warbirds. There will be a special unveiling and dedication for the new Tuskegee Airmen Statues at 10 am on Monday, May 31, with special guests. The flower drop honors and memorializes all veterans who lost their lives defending the US. The white carnations are in honor of those who fought in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The red carnations are in honor of those who died in more recent conflicts including the Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. Warbird rides are available for advanced sale, starting at $99. So as to comply with Covid Protocols, no tickets will be sold at the door. Daily attendance is limited, therefore all attendees (including PS Air Museum members who get in free) must purchase tickets or register in advance.
