C O V E R F E A T U R E Sarah started Welsh Insurance Services in 2009 after having run a medical equipment company for 15 years. She realized there was a great need to educate patients on how Medicare works. “I realized there was a need to help folks navigate the Medicare process when my mother was new to Medicare. She was thoroughly confused and needed help. So, I did my research, got my insurance license, and made it my niche,” states Sarah. Scott joined her in 2013, after spending 25 years in broadcast sales and marketing leadership. Since that time, they have counseled and educated more than 4,000 local residents, from every medical group in the area, on Medicare options. “We have found that people can be very apprehensive about Medicare enrollment options. They receive an extraordinary amount of direct mail ads, see thousands of TV commercials, and even get illegal, unsolicited phone calls. They are bombarded and overwhelmed. There is a lot of confusion. We help them stay with their doctors, find the least expensive medication coverage, and even work directly with the Social Security Administration to get them enrolled properly if necessary,” says Scott. The process is always free of charge. They handle the A-Z of Medicare enrollments and plan options. And, they have relationships with most of the local East Valley medical groups. Many local physicians, benefit directors and business owners rely on their expertise to help their employees and patients.
