The vaccine debate continues to confound a world in crisis. Bitcoin value has decreased by half. And, the masses of unemployed still have not returned to work, leaving employers scrambling, and bulging cargo ships at the ports in limbo. These delays affect every gingerbread house in the woods! We gape with disappointment at empty candy store jars while considering the absurdity of waiting for child- absorbent paper towels, made in China, to arrive. Now, who are these folks who decided to leave the worker ranks? Anyone know? First Day Back From Winter Break (School for Imaginary Characters, 6th grade) Cinderella: Wage slaves? Charlie Brown: Older workers who, maybe, weren’t ready to retire, but were tired?* Jimmy Neutron: Disenfranchised college grads? Mr. Wizard: A handful of magic beans for each of you! These humans are going to need to budget to make ends meet. Students, how are we going to help these earthlings? Any ideas? Thor: Pound the sense into them? Tooth Fairy: Give the tooth money to the parents instead? St. Patrick (hiccupping): Free home brewing supplies? Mr. Wizard: No, but I feel a craft project coming on! Each of you find a million envelopes and write: “My Dental Future” on the fronts, with instructions to add $50 every month. This yearly savings will easily pay for two cleanings, x-rays, exams and any helpful, homecare tools to keep their teeth as healthy as possible.
