No matter what medications or therapy a mainstream medical provider prescribes, the discomfort and irritation of said health-related case persists with seemingly no resolution in sight. For Dr. Abel Rendón, whose journey began in mainstream physical therapy two decades ago, these types of “hit a brick wall” results became the source of daily frustration. These were hindered by the mainstream medical establishment’s usurping Dr. Rendón’s ability to invest the additional time and careful attention necessary to uncover the root cause of a patient’s true discomfort. Within Dr. Rendón’s prior expression of his art of physical therapy, he was encouraged to adhere to insurance company financial caps, and mainstream medical practices which frown upon a deeper more investigative approach to curing an illness, ultimately yielding results that end with patients healed, and no longer dependent upon prescribed pharmaceutical drugs. “You can keep filling holes in the side of a ship, but eventually, if the whole panel isn’t replaced, the ship will sink” – [Tiar’a Literary & Illustration] Dr. Rendón was accepted into entry level [Doctor of Physical Therapy] at Loma Linda university in 2003. Upon the completion of his studies, he graduated in 2006 and was thereafter accepted into the [Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy] an academic doctorate in 2007. After several years of performing manual physical therapy, Dr. Rendón was exposed to Myofascial Release - a gentle, constant soft tissue manipulation that releases tightness and pain throughout myofascial tissues. The procedure is used for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reÁe[ in muscles. 'iscovery of the healing method prompted Dr. Rendón to resume his education and travel around the country learning from master clinicians. Dr. Rendón’s passion to assist others heal from bodily pain and discomfort was birthed during his formative years. The son of immigrants from Mexico, Dr. Rendón was fortunate to have been raised in a modest environment in which financial resources were scarce and medical treatment wasn’t always an option. This way of experiencing life cultivated a creativity within that today allows him to practice physical therapy holistically, resulting in pain-free, drug-free patients.
