Soroptimist International has long stood as a beacon of hope for women’s empowerment, particularly through its transformative Live Your Dream Awards . Since 1994, the Soroptimist Club of Moreno Valley has contributed cash awards along with support services like mentoring and interview attire. These efforts have facilitated remarkable success stories within the Moreno Valley community, embodying the club’s commitment to women’s advancement. This initiative is especially designed for women who are the primary financial providers for their families, helping them achieve their professional and personal goals. The awards process begins at the local club level with a $1,500 award, progressing through regional to international levels, potentially reaching up to $10,000. Beyond financial aid, the emotional and moral support from the Soroptimist community is invaluable, fostering a sense of encouragement and belonging among recipients. Soroptimist International of Moreno Valley honored 14 women with the Live Your Dream Awards this year. Soroptimist is a worldwide organization that prides itself by focusing on projects that support women and girls by giving them opportunities to have access to education, offer assistance for those that have been part of human trafficking, and giving guidance to high school girls in finding their career path. The Live Your Dream Award is based on the woman being the major bread winner in their household, supporting others, whether it be children, siblings or parents, and continuing their education. The 14 women honored are in school or recently finished, working to provide a better life for themselves and others they support. They are attending programs such as child development, business, nursing, and truck driving. These women are survivors of domestic violence, medical and health challenges, traumatic loss, supporting siblings due to loss of parents and children with special needs! Their stories and their drive to continue their educational journey is unmatched. They are resilient and inspirational and deserved to be honored. Over $3000 in cash was given out and over $3000 in gift cards was also presented. This award application is available from August 1 - November 15 annually.
