Prior to entering Karla Adam’s virtual body budget program, Meiling struggled with reaching her fitness goals because of a mindset that overcomplicated the process. But since joining the program in May 2022, the Riverside native has taken control of her overall fitness and wellness goals no matter where she is. “Before, I was always making excuses, but the at-home workouts really work for me. It is nice to have Karla there on the screen and holding me accountable while being able to do the workout wherever I am,” said Meiling, who works a busy schedule as a nurse. Meiling’s decision to take her workouts seriously followed a breast cancer diagnosis in 2018 and a double mastectomy the following year. She also learned her A1C levels were elevated, a concerning diagnosis because her father, mother and brother were diabetic. Since starting the program, her A1C has dropped 13 points, and she has lost over 8 pounds and 14 inches. “Now, even in my early 60s, I have dropped weight, gained lean muscle mass and became healthy enough for the start of the ski season,” she said. “Karla’s virtual program is fun, and she makes sure I don’t overdo it or injure myself.
