Changes in the way buyers and sellers can access detailed property information, photos of homes, and virtual tours have made real estate more accessible to both buyers and sellers. However, at the same time, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the number of buyers who have used a real estate agent to help them increased from 69% to 87% since 2001. Similarly, sellers who use a Realtor ® to help them with marketing their home consistently get a higher sales price than those who try to navigate the process on their own. Better technology is not only related to how buyers and sellers see homes online. Over the past two years, there have also been advances in how buyers and sellers can communicate with their agents. We’re now able to virtually meet with clients to show homes and conduct listing appointments using Zoom and FaceTime apps on our phones and computers. Additionally, gone are the days when it was necessary to come into the office to meet with your agent and write up contracts. The emergence of DocuSign as an accepted way to sign key documents in a real estate transaction has made it easier and quicker for agents to help their clients get the paperwork done. With the current tight market conditions, the value of working with a real estate agent who is familiar with the local trends of the location you’re looking to buy or sell a home in is still key. Technology has made it easier but bringing in a Realtor ® who has experience with negotiating, price setting, and marketing trends will make your home buying or selling journey better. An experienced Realtor ® will save you time and money and will take a lot of the stress out of the process.
