L O C A L R E A L E S T A T E Riverside Community Players has been providing quality theater productions in the City of Riverside since 1925. Since their inception with 27 charter members led by Janet Scott, the founder of RCP, they have provided 96 consecutive seasons of quality theater. This makes RCP the longest running community players organization on the West Coast. This year, as RCP begins their 97th Season, they are launching a fundraising campaign to raise money for much needed repairs to their theater building. The iconic theater where the Players perform is called an arena, or theater in the round. In 1953 at the time the Players were designing their building, Ben Lewis, who was president of the group at the time, hired Herman Ruhnau and his firm to design the building. The current board has been working with Ruhnau Clarke Architects again to create plans for a much needed update to the building. While the plans are exciting, the price tag that goes along with renovating a nearly 70 year old building is steep. Their goal is to raise $250,000 over the next year so that by their 100th Season, they will be able to showcase their newly restored building, courtyard and exterior painting. The past year and a half have stymied efforts to get a fundraising campaign going, but now as the theater is opening up for live performances again, the board of directors is excited to be able to begin planning for fundraising events. The first of these events will be in conjunction with Music Theater International’s All Together Now!: AGlobal Event Celebrating Local Theater. RCP will be joining thousands of theatrical organizations around the globe with this production. This production will have two shows only, November 13th at 2:00 pm and November 14th at 7:00 pm. The production will feature local talent and includes musical numbers that will have something for everyone as we celebrate bringing theater back to life after the past year and a half. Tickets for this event are $25.00 per person and will include a cocktail reception prior to the performance in the theater’s outside courtyard. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
