The story began in 1941, when visionary philanthropists Charles and Clara Brouse established a scholarship distribution committee in Riverside. What started as a small effort to expand educational opportunity has grown into the oldest and largest community foundation serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Today, IECF partners with thousands of donors, including Jane Lykken Hoff, Jack Fitzsimmons, and Walter Gendell, helping individuals, families, and businesses turn generosity into lasting impact across the Coachella Valley and beyond. Over the past decade, IECF has granted nearly $27 million to Coachella Valley charities and educational institutions, supporting the organizations that help our communities thrive. That same commitment to responsive, local philanthropy is at the heart of the Here for Good Fund, the cornerstone of IECF’s Anniversary Campaign. The Fund brings donors, nonprofits, advisors, and community leaders together to respond to emerging needs, strengthen nonprofits, and invest in lasting solutions across the Inland Empire. Your philanthropic legacy starts here. Build Coachella Valley Fund The Build Coachella Valley Fund (BCVF) puts that approach into action. Launched in 2023 by local donors, the fund has awarded $161,000 to eight organizations addressing urgent social, environmental, and economic needs. Now, BCVF is entering a new chapter, focusing its grantmaking on two vital conditions that are essential to a thriving community: Meaningful Work & Wealth and Lifelong Learning. This year, BCVF awarded mini-grants to three local organizations whose work directly supports these priorities. These grants are an important first step in telling the larger BCVF story: when we invest in the conditions that allow people to learn, work, build wealth, and thrive, we strengthen the entire community. Out in the IE LGBTQ+ Empowerment Fund IECF also introduced the Out in the IE LGBTQ+ Empowerment Fund in 2026. This new Signature Fund will advance equity, opportunity, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people and communities across Riverside and San Bernardino counties through grants, scholarships, and community partnerships.
