On Sat., Dec. 4, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Santa will tour around town on a fire engine, with the VP City Council “elves” handing out candy canes to all the good little boys and girls as Santa listens to their holiday wishes. This is a great time to take photos with Santa, too. Despite his busy schedule, Santa arranged for his reindeer to bring a pile of snow from the North Pole to create a Winter Wonderland in the Town Center. There will be snow to play in and a synthetic ice rink, with free skates, for kids to enjoy following the Santa Tour from 4 to 8 p.m. “Joy to the World” is the theme of the 23rd Annual Dryland Boat Parade that will make its way through the Villa Park Asphalt Harbor on Sun., Dec. 12 with a duo of two years of Grand Mar- shals, Mary and Wayne Silzel (2020) and Carolyn and Jim Reichert (2021). Starting on Taft Avenue, in front of VP High School, at 5 p.m., it will follow a route through the town and Town Center and return to VP High. Enjoy the music of the Marchin’ Spartans as it enters the Town Center. Visit vpcsfoundation.org, for the routes and boat registration forms; see villapark.org for Win- ter Wonderland information. The iconic water tower at Orange Canyon Village, at the corner of Newport and Chapman, has been removed. Remarc Management in- dicated that the wooden tower, originally erected in 1982, was rid- dled with termite damage and a danger, especially with the Santa Ana winds commencing.
